ARTIST STATEMENT

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I am an artist who uses a camera with the right-brain only. I have never been particularly interested in the technical side of photography, preferring to reside in the magical realm of image making.

I am drawn to a period in time when our brains were less crowded and multi-tasking wasn't considered a virtue. This is perhaps the best explanation I can offer as to why I use vintage plastic cameras. These cameras are refreshingly simple. A shutter release button is all I require.

In the age of high res, these photographs are intentionally soft and blurry around the edges. In this way, I hope to create a work that resonates a quietness; a point of entry for the viewer.
